With over 35 years’ experience in the industry, Client Manager Nicky knew accountancy was right for her as soon as she finished school. Thankfully for us, she’s never looked back, enjoying the variety her role in accounting offers.

Q: How did you get into the industry?

A: Deciding against university, I was keen to embark on a career in law or accountancy. I’m glad I chose accountancy.

Q: What does a normal day look like for you?

A: Varied. Accounts preparation both statutory & management accounts. Tax calculations both personal & corporate. Responding to client queries. Review of work produced by other staff. Administration tasks involved in the management of my client portfolio.

Common misconceptions about your job?

A: We know everything there is to know about the world of finance.

Q: What do you do outside of work?

A: When I’m not pounding the pavements with my ladies running group, I love interior design. I can easily lose hours poring over interiors magazines and websites.

Q: Tea or Coffee?

A: Tea but coffee abroad, where you can’t get a decent cuppa.

Q: What would your last meal on earth be?

A: Anything, as long as it’s not too spicy!

Q: If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life, what would it be?

A: A good British film based on a true story would get my vote. Marvellous with Toby Jones is a particular favourite.

Q: Interesting fact about yourself / greatest achievement?

A: I love a charity shop, particularly home and furniture items. I’m always on the lookout for an upcycling project.

Q: What do you think will be a big industry trend/ change within the next 5 years?

A: Expansion of Making Tax Digital for sole traders and partnerships.
